Choose your starting city first. These five shared coach and minibus trips take 8 hours from Naples or Sorrento and 12 from Rome. Starting prices run from €115 to €127 per person.
Both tickets are included; Pompeii's ticket type isn't named. Naples with pizza puts the crater first and includes lunch. Sorrento from Bar Kontatto gives you 2 guided hours in Pompeii before Vesuvius.
Choose the Naples coach for 2.5 guided hours. The Sorrento coach gives you the same. On both, Pompeii comes first and you buy your own lunch.
The Rome crater hike includes lunch; its Geologist Walk alternative doesn't reach the crater. Vesuvius stops last 90 minutes to 2 hours, including the climb. Weather can close the crater and change your day.
What I'd do: I'd choose Naples with pizza to walk the crater before lunch.

You'll need 12 hours free and good fitness for the climb. Choose a gentler trip if steep uphill walking is difficult.
The lowest product price excludes Vesuvius; the Geologist Walk also misses the crater. What I'd do: book only if a weather change to the route would be acceptable.

What should I check before booking?
How much does a Pompeii and Vesuvius tour cost?
Budget €115 to €127 per adult for the five shared options. These starting prices were.
Naples with pizza, the Naples coach and the Sorrento coach start at €115. The Bar Kontatto minibus starts at €122. The Rome crater hike starts at €127.
Rome's €56 Pompeii option leaves out Vesuvius. What I'd do: choose your starting city before comparing prices.
How long is the day, and how much time do I get at each site?
Allow 8 hours from Naples or Sorrento, or 12 for the Rome crater hike. The Naples coach and Sorrento coach give you 2.5 guided hours in Pompeii. The other three allow 2 hours.
Vesuvius stops allow 90 minutes to 2 hours, including the climb. Road traffic can change the trip's length. The Naples and Sorrento coaches aren't suitable for cruise passengers.
Do I need a car, and where do the tours meet?
You won't need a car between the sites. All five include return transport from their city meeting points. In Naples, Naples with pizza and the Naples coach meet outside Starhotel Terminus.
In Sorrento, meet at Bar Kontatto or the office behind the Tasso statue for the Piazza Tasso coach. The Rome trip starts by the fountain in Piazza del Popolo.
What I'd do: choose a departure from the city where I'm staying, even with a car.
Are both tickets and lunch included?
Both tickets and return transport are included on all five shared options. Naples with pizza and the Rome crater hike include lunch. You'll pay for lunch on the other three.
The Pompeii ticket type isn't named. The park's €20 ticket excludes the Villa of the Mysteries; €25 includes it. These park prices took effect January 12, 2026.
What I'd do: check villa access before booking if that's your priority.
Can I bring children or a baby?
All five accept infant bookings. The Naples pizza trip and the Naples and Sorrento coaches use infant ages 0 to 2. Bar Kontatto uses 0 to 3.
Infants sit on an adult's lap on these Naples and Sorrento departures. The Rome trip uses infant ages 0 to 1.
Adult bands start at 18 on Naples with pizza, Bar Kontatto and Rome. They start at 13 on the Naples coach and Sorrento coach.
How fit do I need to be?
Expect an uphill crater walk. The Rome crater hike requires good general fitness. It isn't recommended with poor cardiovascular health.
The Naples coach and Piazza Tasso coach require moderate fitness. You'll also spend 2.5 hours walking in Pompeii. What I'd do: choose a day without the crater if the climb would be too much.
What happens if Vesuvius closes or I need to cancel?
You get a full refund on all five shared picks if you cancel at least 24 hours before departure. If you cancel later, there's no refund.
If Vesuvius closes, Naples with pizza substitutes free time at Herculaneum. The Naples coach and Sorrento coach offer Herculaneum entry instead. Bar Kontatto gives a partial refund for a weather closure.
The Rome route can change in bad weather. What I'd do: book only if losing the crater visit would be acceptable.
What should I bring, and how early should I arrive?
Bring a valid passport for Naples with pizza. For the Rome crater hike, give every passenger's name when booking and bring children's ID. Your Pompeii ticket carries your name too.
Wear proper shoes for the crater path. The Naples coach and Piazza Tasso coach ask you to arrive 15 minutes before departure. Keep your ticket and ID with you.
Which tour should I choose for a first visit?
Choose the Naples coach or Piazza Tasso coach if you're staying in its starting city. Both give you 2.5 hours with a guide in Pompeii. Both include a 2-hour Vesuvius stop.
Naples with pizza puts the crater first and includes lunch. Fewer than six travelers means audio guides in Pompeii. What I'd do: take one of the coaches for a longer first Pompeii visit.
Do I need to choose a particular option for the crater?
Book Pompei & Vesuvius Crater Hike for the Rome trip. It includes lunch and the crater climb. The Geologist Walk doesn't reach the crater.
