Pompeii tours from Positano and the Amalfi Coast: 4 pickups compared
Our selection: 4 of the 301 Pompeii tours that name a town on the Amalfi Coast listed on Viator. Each row is one named option: what the price covers, how long you get inside Pompeii, how long the whole trip is and where you are collected.
We chose four shared departures with pickup on the coast and ordered them by our published score, then compared those four by pickup town, hours inside Pompeii, the ticket, Vesuvius or not, group size, day length and price. Viator data from October 19, 2026.

Choose by your pickup town. The four shared trips we selected include park entry and a 2-hour guided walk. Three take 4 to 5 hours; the winery day takes 6 to 7 and includes lunch. Positano and Ravello have named departures. The coast-wide pickup names no towns, so confirm your hotel before paying.
In Positano, the small-group pickup, from €169, is the most reviewed of the four. The coast pickup at €149 is the cheapest of the four and is sold for the whole Amalfi Coast rather than one town. From Ravello, Aiana's half day at €159 names your town as its start.
Want Vesuvius in the same day? Two shared days from the coast do it, and both sit beside the list: one lists conflicting group limits, the other leaves the guide's group arrangement unclear. A private vehicle is the other way, from €255 per person.
Five of the seven shared coast departures on this page come from one operator, Enjoy Pompeii; two from Aiana Travel. Days from Naples, Salerno or Rome that visit the coast are compared in Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast; the train from Sorrento is below.
What I'd do: from Positano, the 8:00 small-group pickup, and the beach by 14:00. From Ravello or Amalfi, whichever run names your town.
Which pickup from the coast should I choose?
The four we kept, side by side.
Four Pompeii tours that name a town on the Amalfi Coast compared by the named option: time in Pompeii, trip length, other stops, park entry, group limit, price per adult or per group as labeled, and rating.
One row per tour, for the option named; the price is that option's lowest listed price, per adult or per group as marked in the row. Viator data from October 19, 2026. How tours are compared.
Who is each trip for?
1. Positano pickup, up to 12 travelers
Small Group Guided Pompeii Tour from Positano
Book this if you sleep in Positano: pickup at your hotel or the nearest point a vehicle can reach, 2 guided hours inside with an archaeological guide, skip-the-line entry in the price, from €169 per person, back in 4 to 5 hours. It has 179 reviews, more than any other shared departure that starts on the coast.
A 2-hour guided walk, with the afternoon back in Positano. Ages 5 to 85 only.
Lunch isn't included, and the ticket isn't named by type, so don't count on the Villa of the Mysteries. The same operator's other Positano run, beside the list, costs €139 and takes 15 travelers; it has 36 reviews. What I'd do: the 8:00 run, and be outside by 7:30.

The entry ticket is skip-the-line and not named by type; the route names no houses and not the Villa of the Mysteries.
Pompeii Tour with Lunch and Wine Tasting from Positano
Take this if lunch matters as much as the site: pickup at 7:45 in Positano, 2 guided hours in Pompeii with entry included, then 2 hours of tasting and lunch at a Vesuvius winery, from €239 per person, back in 6 to 7 hours.
Choose this from Positano if you want a Pompeii walk and a winery lunch; the day doesn't include a crater hike. Ages 0 to 99 in one fare band; it starts at two travelers.
The highest price in the main list, and two of its hours are at the winery, not in the park. The fare band allows up to 7 per booking while the shared group can contain 15; ask about larger parties. What I'd do: this one if I had one day for both Pompeii and a long Italian lunch.

Confirm pickup from your hotel before paying: the listing is sold for the whole Amalfi Coast and names no towns. It includes free pickup, 2 guided hours in Pompeii in a group of up to 15 and skip-the-line entry, from €149 per person. The trip takes 4 to 5 hours.
A half-day trip to Pompeii from a coast hotel outside Positano.
No towns are named in the pickup area, so write your hotel in the booking notes and wait for the confirmation before you plan the day. Lunch isn't included; ages 5 to 85. What I'd do: be outside 30 minutes before the start, whatever the fine print says about 20.

Meet at Amalfi Coast pickup; confirm your hotel and pickup point

Entry included

Pickup starts 30 minutes before the 8:00 or 11:00 departure in the pickup note and 20 minutes before in the fine print. Be outside at 30.
The entry ticket is skip-the-line and not named by type; the route covers the western part of the city, Basilica, Forum, baths and houses.
Choose this from Ravello: a driver with your name on a sign at your hotel at 8:00, an hour down to Pompeii, 2 hours inside, entry included, from €159 per person, and an hour back. An archaeologist-led walk is advertised in Italian and English.
Anyone staying up in Ravello, where the other shared pickups don't name the town. Ages 0 to 99 in one fare band that starts at two travelers.
Confirm your guide and language before booking. Lunch isn't mentioned, and 46 reviews is the smallest base in the main list. What I'd do: book it, confirm the guide by message, and eat in Ravello afterward.

Pompeii tours from Positano and the Amalfi Coast: which others did we compare?
Beside the selection: another Positano half day from the same operator at €139, the two Pompeii and Vesuvius days from the coast, one with conflicting group limits and one that leaves the guide's group arrangement unclear, a private Vesuvius day from Positano, two private coast days with named pickups, and two one-way transfers that stop at Pompeii between Naples and the coast. Each has its own page with our check of the listing.
Eight Pompeii tours that name a town on the Amalfi Coast listed beside the selection, compared by the named option.

Pompeii and Amalfi Coast Private Day Trip with Pick Up: Private car from Positano or Amalfi, the coast after Pompeii. A private day by car: 2 hours in Pompeii, an hour in Positano, the Fiordo di Furore from the road, then an hour in Amalfi or at Villa Rufolo in Ravello, with pickup options named for Positano and Amalfi. Beside the list because it is private, priced per person for up to eight, and the coast towns fill the afternoon
Explore the Pompeii Ruins from Positano: Positano pickup, €139, ages 3 to 90. Another Enjoy Pompeii departure from Positano: entry and a 2-hour guided walk, up to 15 travelers, ages 3 to 90, from €139, back in 4 to 5 hours. Beside the list because we chose the €169 departure for its smaller group and larger review base; this one has 36 reviews against 179.
Naples to/from Positano Private Transfer & Optional Pompeii Stop: Naples to Positano, or back, with 2 hours at Pompeii on the way. A one-way private transfer between Naples and Positano that stops 2 hours at Pompeii, from €60.82 per person. Beside the list because it is a transfer for the day you change base, not a return trip.
Naples to Positano/Sorrento Transfer via Pompeii (or Vice Versa): Positano or Sorrento to Naples via Pompeii, one way. The same kind of transfer from another operator: Positano or Sorrento to Naples, or the reverse, with 2 hours at Pompeii, from €87.16 per person; Rome options too. Beside the list for the same reason, a one-way trip.
Pompeii & Amalfi Coast Private Tour: Archaeologist-led, Flexible: Private day with an archaeologist, coast towns of your choice. A private driver-guide who meets you in Positano, Sorrento, Naples or Pompeii, walks Pompeii with you as an archaeologist and then takes you to two coast towns you pick. Beside the list because it is private, priced per person, and the route is agreed on the day.
Enjoy Pompeii & Mt. Vesuvius: Semi-Private Tour from Positano: Positano pickup with Vesuvius, 10 travelers listed. The same operator's Pompeii and Vesuvius day from Positano: 2 guided hours in Pompeii, then 2 hours on Vesuvius, both entries in the price, 7 to 8 hours in all. Beside the list because the group is capped at 10 while the single option accepts a booking of 14, and the listing doesn't explain how that party fits.
Private Skip-the-Line Pompeii & Mt. Vesuvius Tour from Positano: Private Pompeii and Vesuvius day from Positano. Your own vehicle and a licensed guide for Pompeii, then the crater, from Positano: 2 hours inside with nine named places, six visited and three passed on the way, 90 minutes on Vesuvius in two stages, the Vesuvius ticket and priority access to Pompeii included, 8 hours, €255 per person in English. Beside the list because it is private.
Pompeii & Vesuvius with Lunch & Wine Tasting from Amalfi Coast: Coast pickup, crater and Casa Setaro. Pickup on the Amalfi Coast, 2 guided hours in Pompeii, 2 hours on Vesuvius and 80 minutes at the Casa Setaro winery in Trecase with lunch, both entries included, 8 to 9 hours. Beside the list because the transport is shared with up to 12 while the Pompeii stop describes a private walk, and the record doesn't say how the guide is shared.
Can I get to Pompeii from the coast without a tour?
Bus to Sorrento, then the train
€20 park entry only; €25 with the villa; bus and train fares extra
Book the named Pompeii ticket on Vivaticket before you travel; the morning places can be gone on the day.
Check transport from your coast town to Sorrento for your date; the train starts there.
At Sorrento take the Circumvesuviana toward Naples to Pompei Villa dei Misteri; enter at Porta Marina with ID.
Allow the park's 2 to 3 hours minimum, and check the last bus back for your date.
from €149 per person; four shared departures, entry on all four
Named pickups in Positano and Ravello. For the coast-wide departure, confirm your hotel before paying.
Two guided hours inside Pompeii with the entry ticket in the price on all four.
Back in 4 to 5 hours, 6 to 7 on the winery day. The winery day includes lunch and tasting; the Ravello listing doesn't mention lunch.
What I'd do: the pickup if I had half a day; the bus and train if I had the whole day and wanted 4 hours inside.
Park tickets and directions: Archaeological Park of Pompeii.
What should I check before booking?
How long does a Pompeii trip from Positano or Amalfi take?
Four to five hours on three of the four, with a 2-hour guided walk inside; the Positano and Ravello listings give about an hour for the drive. The winery day takes 6 to 7 hours, 2 of them at the cellars. The two Vesuvius days beside the list run 7 to 9 hours. The park says a visit needs 2 to 3 hours at least. What I'd do: the 8:00 run. You are back for a late lunch.
Where exactly do they pick me up?
At your hotel, or at the nearest point a vehicle can reach: Positano's streets don't all take a minibus.
The Positano run starts collecting 30 minutes before the 8:00 or 11:00 departure; Aiana gives 7:45 at an agreed point in Positano; in Ravello the driver waits at your hotel at 8:00 with your name on a sign.
The coast pickup names no towns, so confirm your hotel and pickup point before paying.
What I'd do: write the hotel name in the booking notes and wait for the confirmation.
Is the park ticket in the price?
Yes, on all four, and three of the four call it skip-the-line; the winery day doesn't. None names the ticket type, and no route here names the Villa of the Mysteries. Ask which ticket you receive: the park's €20 ticket excludes the villa, the €25 one includes it. Bring ID: every ticket carries a name. What I'd do: treat the villa as a separate visit on a slower day.
Can I add Vesuvius from the coast?
Two shared days do it, both from the operator of the Positano run, and both sit beside the list.
The Positano day lists a group limit of 10 but accepts a booking of 14; ask how your party would be grouped.
The coast day with a winery lunch shares the transport with up to 12 but describes its Pompeii walk as private; ask whether the guide is yours alone.
What I'd do: Pompeii in the morning from the coast, and Vesuvius on another day; its last entry changes by month.
I'm in Amalfi, Praiano or Minori, not Positano. Which one?
The coast pickup is sold for the whole Amalfi Coast, from €149, but names no towns: confirm your hotel before paying. From Ravello, Aiana's half day names the town. From Amalfi town, the private car beside the list has a Pick up from Amalfi option at €146 per person, entry and guide extra. What I'd do: the coast pickup once the operator has confirmed my hotel.
What does it cost, and what's extra?
€149 to €239 per person in the main list, entry and the guide included on all four; starting prices for the named option, so check the total for your party and date.
The winery day includes lunch and the tasting; the two Enjoy Pompeii half days exclude lunch; the Ravello listing doesn't mention it.
The private Positano day with Vesuvius costs €255 per person; the transfers €60.82 and €87.16 one way, entry extra. Viator data from October 19, 2026.
What I'd do: the winery day if I wanted lunch and the tasting arranged.
Can I do it by bus and train instead?
Yes, with a whole day and a plan for the return. Check transport from your coast town to Sorrento for your date. From Sorrento, the Circumvesuviana goes to Pompei Villa dei Misteri, the stop for Porta Marina. Book the named €20 ticket on Vivaticket before you travel; the morning places can be gone on the day. Train times and fares are on our Sorrento to Pompeii page. What I'd do: the train only if I wanted 4 or 5 hours inside; for 2 hours, the pickup wins.
Which one with children, or for a first visit?
The two Enjoy Pompeii runs in the main list take ages 5 to 85; the other Positano run beside the list takes 3 to 90, from €139. Both Aiana tours list ages 0 to 99 in one fare band that starts at two travelers. For a first visit from Positano, the 8:00 small-group run: in my experience 2 guided hours covers the Forum and the houses around it. The 11:00 run exists on the Enjoy Pompeii days. What I'd do: 8:00 in summer, 11:00 only from October.
Tour conditions: Viator data from October 19, 2026. Park rules: Archaeological Park of Pompeii, checked .
How were these tours chosen?
Viator lists 301 Pompeii tours that name a town on the Amalfi Coast. Forty-three clear 4.5 stars and 30 reviews. We chose four shared departures with pickup on the coast, two in Positano, one along the coast road and one in Ravello, and ordered them by our published score. Beside them: another Positano half day from the same operator, which we read and ranked below the €169 run, and two Pompeii and Vesuvius days from the coast with unresolved conditions. The remaining products either start outside the coast, are additional private trips or transfers, or leave the coast pickup unclear. Five of the seven shared coast departures on this page are run by one operator, Enjoy Pompeii. How tours are compared.
