Is Pompeii Express right for you?

Choose this for about 5 hours inside Pompeii without a guide. Your return trains and coaches are included. Keep to the return meeting time.

For the casts, make time for the Garden of the Fugitives. The permanent exhibition is in the Large Palaestra. For a guided walk, choose Pompeii from Rome with Optional Mt. Vesuvius. The Pompeii (without Vesuvius) option starts at €56.

Pompeii Express includes city entry. Its coverage matches the park's €20 ticket. Pompeii Express Plus starts at €159 per adult. It adds entry to the Villa of the Mysteries, Villa of Diomedes and Villa Regina in Boscoreale.

What I'd do: I'd book this if I wanted to choose my own route.

Pompeii Express or Pompeii Express Plus?

Pompeii Express
€149per adult

Entrance ticket to the Archaeological Park; the suburban villas are not included. It covers the ancient city, as the park's €20 ticket does.

Villa of the Mysteries not included
Pompeii Express Plus For the villa
€159per adult

Includes entry to the Villa of the Mysteries (Villa dei Misteri), Villa of Diomedes and Villa Regina in Boscoreale. In summer, last access through Porta Ercolano is at 17:30. Last entry to the villa is at 18:15; it closes at 18:30. Keep to your tour's return meeting time.

Villa of the Mysteries included
Already have the €20 city ticket? You can add villa access for €8 at Porta Ercolano. Pay by card. Express Plus here is an ItaliaTours option, not the park's €30 Pompeii Plus ticket. What I'd do: I'd choose Plus if I wanted villa entry arranged before the trip.

Prices: the lowest adult price per option on Viator; the booking page shows the price for your date. Villa hours: the park's list of open buildings. Updated September 19, 2026.

I grew up in Castellammare di Stabia, under the volcano, and spent six seasons on hotel front desks in Sorrento. Which ticket, which train, which gate, how many hours: I've answered these more times than I can count.

Now I live in Pompei, ten minutes on foot from the Amphitheatre gate, and I go into the site most weeks on a MyPompeii card. For this page I compared the options and booking terms with the park's rules. I haven't taken this trip. Report a correction.
