Is this tour right for you?

Choose Private if you want your own minivan and Pompeii guide. Pickup covers accommodation in Naples, Sorrento or Positano. Allow about 8 hours for this option.

You get 2 guided hours in Pompeii before a 2-hour Vesuvius stop. A winery visit follows for an hour. Both entry tickets and the winery lunch with wine tasting cost extra.

Agree the entry times with your driver before buying tickets. Vesuvius tickets are sold online only. Check the Pompeii route before paying for Villa of the Mysteries access.

What I'd do: I'd settle both entry times with the driver before buying the separate tickets.

Chiara VitaleWrites pompeii.day

I grew up in Castellammare di Stabia, under the volcano, and spent six seasons on hotel front desks in Sorrento. Which ticket, which train, which gate, how many hours: I've answered these more times than I can count.

Now I live in Pompei, ten minutes on foot from the Amphitheatre gate, and I go into the site most weeks on a MyPompeii card. For this page I compared the options and booking terms with the park's rules. I haven't taken this trip. Report a correction.
