Park tickets and directions: Archaeological Park of Pompeii. Updated September 18, 2026.
What should I check before booking?
How much does a guided tour of Pompeii cost?
Starting prices for these shared options range from €25 to €180 per person. These prices were.
The €25 English walk covers your guide; entry costs extra. The English option on the ten-person Esedra walk starts at €180 with entry included.
What I'd do: choose the daytime English walk from €29.50 if you need city entry included.
Does the tour include entry and the Villa of the Mysteries?
Most picks include Pompeii entry. The €25 English walk and Esedra guide-only walk need separate tickets.
The park's €20 ticket is city only. The €25 ticket adds the Villa of the Mysteries. These prices took effect January 12, 2026 and were checked September 18.
Included entry doesn't always cover the villa. What I'd do: choose the city and villa walk if you want both included.
How long will I spend inside Pompeii?
Allow 2 to 3 hours for these shared visits. Most have 2 hours with a guide. The walk for six lasts 2.5 hours.
Choose Complete Pompeii Tour for 3 guided hours. Pompeii Tour and Tasting takes 3 hours overall: 2 walking and 1 tasting wine with cured meats and cheeses.
What I'd do: choose the 3-hour guided walk if you want more time with the archaeologist.
Which tour should I book for my first visit?
Book the walk for six if you'd prefer a small group. Its Semi Private Group Tour includes entry and 2.5 hours with an archaeologist. It runs in English.
The daytime English walk is shorter at 2 hours. It includes city entry and takes up to 20 people. This is the pick with the most reviews here.
What I'd do: choose the group of six so fewer people share your guide.
Do I need a car to join these tours?
No. You can reach the meeting points by train. These shared options don't include pickup from your hotel or city.
From Naples:
1. Take the Circumvesuviana toward Sorrento.
2. Get off at Pompei Villa dei Misteri.
3. Follow your tour's directions to its meeting point.
If you're driving, use the A3 Pompei Scavi exit. What I'd do: take the train and choose the walk from Bar Sgambati beside the station.
Can I bring children, and do they pay for the tour?
Yes, several walks accept infants and children. Check the tour's age bands before you compare family prices. Free park entry for under-18s doesn't make the guided tour free.
On the €25 English walk, the adult tour rate starts at 12. On the Esedra guide-only walk, it starts at 3.
What I'd do: choose the walk for six for a smaller shared group; its child band covers ages 3 to 17.
Can I join if walking is difficult or I use a wheelchair?
Choose by the route's access conditions. The 2-hour Porta Marina walk is wheelchair and stroller accessible. It isn't recommended for travelers with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health.
The Complete Pompeii Tour requires a moderate walking pace. It can't accommodate wheelchairs, strollers or travelers with mobility impairments.
What I'd do: start with the accessible walk if you need a wheelchair or stroller, then check its health restrictions.
What happens if it rains or I need to cancel?
Rain doesn't automatically cancel your walk. The daytime Porta Marina tour runs in rain or shine. The Semi-Private Tour for ten can be canceled for bad weather.
Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for a full refund on every shared pick. The Esedra English tour needs six people; cancellation for low numbers brings an alternative or full refund.
What I'd do: keep the daytime walk if you're comfortable touring in rain.
What should I bring to the meeting point?
Bring ID that matches your booking. The Vittoria small-group walk requires it for entry. Your tour voucher only works when you're with the guide.
Wear comfortable shoes for the ancient streets. For the daytime Porta Marina walk, bring a small water bottle. Add sunglasses and sunscreen in summer.
What I'd do: pack for the walk and keep everyone's ID with the tour voucher.
How early should I arrive for my tour?
Use the arrival time for your exact meeting point. The Vittoria small-group walk asks for 10 minutes early. If you're late or miss it, there's no refund.
The Complete Pompeii Tour asks for 15 minutes. The Sgambati entry-included walk asks for 20. Allow time to find the exact bar or entrance.
What I'd do: choose a departure that leaves you time to find the meeting point.
Tour conditions: Viator listings. Park rules: Archaeological Park of Pompeii. Updated September 20, 2026.
