Is this tour right for you?

Choose this private walk if you want to shape the route around your party. You pay for the group, with up to 12 people in a booking. The visit lasts 2.5 hours.

Your archaeologist can adapt the visit for children or your appetite for walking. Houses and shops share the route with baths and the Forum. Guiding is included; buy park entry separately.

Agree the exact entrance before booking and look for the Svelaria sign. Wait for booking acceptance before fixing other plans. English and Italian are offered, so arrange the language with the guide.

What I'd do: choose this for a private family route and agree the meeting gate before paying for the group.

Chiara VitaleWrites pompeii.day

I grew up in Castellammare di Stabia, under the volcano, and spent six seasons on hotel front desks in Sorrento. Which ticket, which train, which gate, how many hours: I've answered these more times than I can count.

Now I live in Pompei, ten minutes on foot from the Amphitheatre gate, and I go into the site most weeks on a MyPompeii card. For this page I compared the options and booking terms with the park's rules. I haven't taken this trip. Report a correction.
