Pompeii tours from the Naples cruise port: 5 shore excursions
Our selection: 5 of the 79 Pompeii shore excursions from the Naples cruise port listed on Viator. Each row is one named option: what the price covers, how long you get inside Pompeii and where you meet.
We read the 8 listings that clear 4.5 stars and 30 reviews, kept the five with the strongest ratings, review counts and inclusions, then compared those five by what the listing says about your ship, time inside Pompeii, trip length, park entry, group size and where you meet at the terminal. Viator data from October 19, 2026.

A ship day has one rule: be back on board before the gangway closes. We kept only the departures that start on the quay in Naples or Salerno, name port pickup in the listing and clear both of our rules, 4.5 stars with 30 reviews combined and 4.5 on Viator alone; four of the five also say what they do with your ship's times. The Molo Beverello walk with entry, rated 4.2 on Viator alone, is compared beside the selection. Everything else from Naples is in our From Naples selection.
All five start at a port and return to it. Three combine Pompeii with Sorrento or the coast, one adds the Vesuvius crater, and one visits Pompeii only from Salerno. Three include park entry. The maritime station pickup leaves the park's €20 city ticket to you, and the terminal coast day asks €22 per adult in cash on arrival; ask whether it accepts a ticket bought separately. Viator data from October 19, 2026.
What I'd do: the terminal coast day, with the cash-ticket question settled with the operator first, and the ship's all-aboard written on my hand.
Which shore excursion should I choose?
The five we kept, side by side.
Five Pompeii shore excursions from the Naples cruise port compared by the named option: time in Pompeii, trip length, other stops, park entry, group limit, price per adult or per group as labeled, and rating.
One row per tour, for the option named; the price is that option's lowest listed price, per adult or per group as marked in the row. Viator data from October 19, 2026. How tours are compared.

Salerno calls, and anyone who wants Pompeii properly instead of three stops in a day.
Up to 50 people on the coach; the listing gives no return-to-ship promise, so keep a margin. What I'd do: the morning departure, with the afternoon on the ship.

Pompeii tours from the Naples cruise port: which others did we compare?
These fit the brief but not the main list; each has its own page with our check of the listing.
Naples to Pompeii & Sorrento with Positano View Tour: Entry and a live guide at Molo Beverello, 4.2 on Viator alone. Book the Regular Group without lunch for Pompeii with entry and a live guide, Sorrento and a Positano viewpoint, meeting at Bar Picnic on Molo Beverello. Pompeii Private Tour from Naples Port or Hotel Pick Up: Private, four hours, port or hotel pickup. A private 4-hour trip with a chauffeur from the Naples port or your hotel, with entry and a guide included. Beside the selection because it is priced per person for a private car, which only pays off for a small party.
Pompeii, Amalfi & Ravello Private Tour from Naples: Private car to Amalfi and Ravello. A private Mercedes with a driver: 2 hours at Pompeii, then Amalfi and Ravello. The listing promises port pickup and a guaranteed return to the ship
from €65 per person; four start in the Naples port, one at Salerno; entry on three of five
Pickup at the Stazione Marittima, Molo Beverello or Molo Manfredi.
Four of the five listings say what they do with your ship's times.
Back at the port in 5 to 9 hours.
What I'd do: a terminal tour on a short call, my own visit only with ten hours in port.
Park tickets and directions: Archaeological Park of Pompeii.
What should I check before booking?
Which tours start at the Naples cruise terminal?
Three of the five: the terminal coast day meets outside customs at the Stazione Marittima, the maritime station pickup waits inside it, and the eight-seat minibus meets at the blue arch outside; the Molo Beverello walk beside the list meets at Bar Picnic on the quay next door. The crater day offers Molo Beverello or the station; the Salerno coach starts at Molo Manfredi. What I'd do: pick a terminal start and skip the taxi.
Will I be back on the ship in time?
Only one listing promises it in writing: the terminal coast day says the day is tailored to ships' times and the return is guaranteed. The crater day and the eight-seat minibus ask for your ship's name and docking, disembarkation and reboarding times when booking; the maritime station pickup asks for your cruise details. The Salerno coach only calls itself ideal for cruise passengers. The full days run 7.5 to 9 hours; the Salerno coach about 5. What I'd do: subtract the tour length from the all-aboard time and keep an hour spare.
Is park entry included?
On three: the eight-seat minibus (city ticket), the crater day (both sites) and the Salerno coach; the Molo Beverello walk beside the list includes it too. Entry is extra on two. The maritime station pickup leaves it to you: €20 per adult, named tickets on Vivaticket, best bought before you sail. The terminal coast day asks €22 per adult in cash on arrival instead; ask whether it accepts a ticket bought separately. What I'd do: settle Mondo Guide's cash-ticket condition before buying entry; buy ahead where the operator confirms you should bring your own ticket.
Can I do Pompeii on my own from the port?
Yes. Take a taxi or the metro from Municipio, the station beside the port, to Napoli Garibaldi, then the Circumvesuviana toward Sorrento to Pompei Villa dei Misteri; enter at Porta Marina with your named ticket. Count the train both ways and the 2 to 3 hours the park calls a minimum. What I'd do: own visit only with a long call; a terminal tour otherwise.
Which tour is unsuitable for cruise passengers?
The operator of the shared Pompeii and Vesuvius coach from Naples writes that it is unsuitable for cruise passengers, so it isn't here; it sits in From Naples. Tours that meet at the station hotels are not here either: nothing in their listings deals with ships. What I'd do: trust the listing's own words over a reseller's badge.
My ship docks at Salerno. What works?
The Salerno coach: pickup at Molo Manfredi, 2.5 hours in Pompeii with an archaeologist, entry included, about 5 hours door to door. The maritime station operator also has a Molo Manfredi option for the coast day. What I'd do: the coach for Pompeii, the coast day only with a late all-aboard.
Private pickup at the dock?
Four private options are listed beside the selection: a 4-hour Pompeii trip with entry and a guide, a shore excursion to Pompeii, Sorrento and Positano, a driver to Amalfi and Ravello, and Pompeii with the crater. They cost from €70 per person; the listings price them per person, so count your party. What I'd do: private from four people, shared below.
How much does a shore excursion to Pompeii cost?
From €65 per person for the Salerno coach to €150 for the crater day, Viator data from October 19, 2026. Budget €20 for the maritime station pickup, or the €22 in cash the terminal coast day asks for unless it confirms you can bring your own ticket. What I'd do: compare the total with entry added, not the headline.
Tour conditions: Viator data from October 19, 2026. Park rules: Archaeological Park of Pompeii, checked .
