Pompeii with kids: 4 family tours, ages and strollers
Our selection: 4 of the 23 Pompeii tours built for children listed on Viator. Each row is one named option: what the price covers, how long you get inside Pompeii and where you meet.
We read the 15 listings that clear 4.5 stars and 30 reviews, kept the four with the strongest ratings, review counts and inclusions, then compared those four by what the listing does for children, hours inside, which ticket is in the price and where you meet. Viator data from October 19, 2026.

Pompeii with children works when the walk is short and someone else does the storytelling. We kept only the listings that build something for kids: a guide who works with children, games, a quiz, an exercise book. Adult walks that merely admit children are out.
All four are private walks of 2 to 2.5 hours from a Pompeii gate. Three include park entry; one asks you to buy named tickets on Vivaticket first. Three are priced per traveler, with separate age bands, from €69 per adult; one costs from €190 per group, park entry extra. Viator data from October 19, 2026. Two more options are labeled kids-friendly with no children's programme in the listing; they're listed beside the selection.
Four Pompeii tours built for children compared by the named option: time in Pompeii, park entry, group limit, price per adult or per group as labeled, and rating.
One row per tour, for the option named; the price is that option's lowest listed price, per adult or per group as marked in the row. Viator data from October 19, 2026. How tours are compared.

Pompeii with kids: which others did we compare?
These fit the brief but not the main list; each has its own page with our check of the listing.
Skip the Line Guided Tour of Pompeii Led by an Archaeologist: Labeled kids-friendly, no programme described. The private kids friendly guide option on the well-reviewed 2-hour walk, skip-the-line entry included. Beside the selection because the listing names the option and nothing else: no games, no age plan
Pompeii Skip-the-line Tour with Archaeologist Guide: Kids-friendly in the title only. The KIDS FRIENDLY PRIVATE TOUR option: 2 hours with a local guide for your family alone, skip-the-line tickets included. Beside the selection for the same reason: a title and a price, no children's activities in the listing.
Private Pompeii & Ravello Day Trip via Amalfi Coast (Tickets): The coast day with a family guide. Choose the Family-Guide + Driver + Tkts option for a private day: 2 hours in Pompeii with a map and activities for children 6 to 11, city entry included, then the Amalfi drive to Ravello. Aside because Pompeii is a third of a 9-hour day.
Pompeii & Amalfi Coast Private Tour: Archaeologist-led, Flexible: Kids' activities on request, coast included. A private day with an archaeologist driver-guide: Pompeii in the morning, then the coast towns you choose. The children's activities come only if you travel with kids aged 6 to 11

Two to 2.5 hours with a guide who works with children.

What should I check before booking?
What age is Pompeii good for?
From about 5, if the walk is 2 hours and someone tells stories. The operators here take children from 3, 4 or 5 and price them at the child rate; the per-group walk charges one price whatever the ages. Under 5, plan an hour and a break; the streets are cobbled and there's little shade. What I'd do: 2 hours with a guide, then the Amphitheatre and an ice cream in the modern town.
Is park entry included?
On three of the four walks, yes. The games walk, the kids-versus-parents walk and the exercise-book walk include skip-the-line tickets. The per-group walk excludes entry: buy named tickets on Vivaticket first, €20 per adult; the park's table marks children's tickets free by law, so name every child when you book. What I'd do: buy the tickets the week before; the day of, the morning quota can be gone.
Can I bring a stroller?
Yes on the main streets, with effort at the stepping stones and the stepped pavements. Two listings say strollers are allowed and one says the route is wheelchair accessible. The park's Pompeii for All route starts at Piazza Anfiteatro and runs for over 3.5 km; some stretches still have uneven paving and slopes. These walks meet at the western gates, so ask before booking whether the guide can adapt the route for a stroller, and agree the entrance. What I'd do: a carrier for under-3s, a light stroller from 3.
Which gate do I meet at?
By the Porta Marina Inferiore entrance for two walks: the Coffee Shop Vittoria or the Suisse restaurant. Porta Marina Superiore, opposite Hortus, for the kids-versus-parents walk. Bar Sgambati by the station for the exercise-book walk. All are within a few minutes of Pompei Villa dei Misteri station on the Sorrento line. What I'd do: arrive 15 minutes early; the timed tickets don't wait for a late train.
Are there toilets and shade inside?
Toilets at the gates and a few inside, marked on the park map; the guide knows them. Shade is scarce: the streets are open and the houses are the cool spots. Bring water; there are fountains inside. Hats in summer. What I'd do: the first slot of the morning, and a house visit at midday.
How much does a family walk cost?
Three walks are priced per traveler, from €69 per adult, with child and infant rates on the booking page; one costs from €190 per group, park entry extra. Viator data from October 19, 2026. Three of the four include park entry worth €20 per adult. Compare €190 plus the park tickets your party needs with the full family total of each per-person walk. What I'd do: count your party and the children's ages, then compare the totals with entry added.
Tour conditions: Viator data from October 19, 2026. Park rules: Archaeological Park of Pompeii, checked .
