Is this tour right for you?

It sits beside the list because it is private, priced per person. The guide is named as an art historian, and the route lists the House of Neptune and Amphitrite, the College of the Augustales, the Terrace of Nonius Balbus and the House of the Telephus Relief.

Meet at the park's ticket office at 9:30 or 13:30, no Wednesdays. The Herculaneum stop marks admission as included, but the inclusions list doesn't spell out the ticket; confirm entry before paying.

Up to 14 per booking; children must be accompanied by an adult, infant seats are available, moderate fitness is asked for. Runs in all weather.

What I'd do: confirm entry first; the Askos private walk at €54.66 names an archaeologist for less, with entry extra.

Chiara Vitale Writes pompeii.day

I grew up in Castellammare di Stabia, under the volcano, and spent six seasons on hotel front desks in Sorrento. Which ticket, which train, which gate, how many hours: I've answered these more times than I can count.

Now I live in Pompei, ten minutes on foot from the Amphitheatre gate, and I go into the site most weeks on a MyPompeii card. For this page I compared the options and booking terms with the park's rules. Report a correction.
